While instilling hope to numerous families about having children in the initial stages of its application, assisted reproduction techniques that brought sociological, psychological, and legal discussions with developing technology are examined with experts.

Sperm or egg donation, sperm banks, tissue compatible child conception (design baby), pre-natal gender determination, stem cells, and cloning… Such issues are discussed in the whole world in their moral and legal dimensions. For every new technological development brought with itself some moral, legal, sociological, and psychological problems.

In our country where such applications can legally be done only by married couples and around 40 thousand applications are made annually, treatment process brings a heavy physical and psychological burden on spouses and the course of pregnancy and health problems of babies add on top of these. Health professionals who are aware of their responsibility towards the public note that before consequences that might shake the foundations of our family and society come up, the issue must be debated in scientific platforms and public must be informed. During the full-day symposium that took place on May 2nd, 2010 at Tarık Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center in Beyoğlu, new guidance; medical, legal, religious, psychological, and social dimensions are debated in sessions that esteemed scientists recognized in such fields participated in.
